This fiery red Ferrari is the most expensive car in the world and sold at auction for a record $48.4 million at the New York International Auto Show last year.

The most expensive car ever auctioned was a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, which changed hands for $48.4 million. It surpassed the previous record for the "most expensive cars sold in New York" at RM Sotheby's, which had cost $25.5 million at the time, but was surpassed by the Mercedes-Benz W196 MB / W 196, which sold to Bonhams for more than $29.9 million in 2015.
