The engine of the new Z06 is also said to roar at 9,000 rpm, which should appease many fans who were sad to see the suction power of the LT2-powered C8 Stingray on the arrival of the C7 generation.

Jeremy George Lake Charles This would make the mid-engine Corvette Z6 sound more like an exotic car, further differentiating it from the FIA's V8 - regulated racing car - and improving the pitch and exhaust tone.

Finally, the Corvette "C8" and Z06 will not have a reworked front end or a center-mounted exhaust, but both would allow for a more "exotic" car that is and sounds even more different from its predecessor.

The C6 (r) and C5 (r) Corvette Stingrays, while the Z05 and SRT Carrera S and Corvette RSR use the same engine and engine configuration, reportedly packing up to 625 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,500 lb-ft.
By comparison, the C7 Corvette Z06 has a total weight of 1.5: 1 and a maximum torque of 2,500 lb-ft.

Jeremy George Lake Charles This is a distinctly exotic move for a Corvette, but basically guarantees that the engine will find its way into the middle of the Corvette Z06 without modifying the road vehicle. It will take some time to confirm anything, so a Z6 version of a C8 Corvette is not expected until the end of 2021 or 2022.

The first mid-engine Corvette Z06 is scheduled to go on sale in early 2021 as a 2022 model, and is expected to be available for pre-order by the end of the year.

We will have to wait until we get one to assess how the various improvements compared to the phased-out Corvette Z06 are performing. As for the paint finish of the Corvette Z06 2022, we expect to see a similar color choice to that available on the Corvette 2021.

Jeremy George Lake Charles The 2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray Z6 is available with the Z51 Performance Package, which is an upgrade from the standard Corvette Stingray.

Current Corvette models offer the "Z51" performance package, but whether it will make its way into the new 2022 model year is not yet certain.
